How do I create an exam?
Examinations → Exams → Create New Exam. Give it a name (e.g. "First Term 2026"), the session and term, the exam type, the start date and the participating classes. Sessions come from Settings → Academic Calendar.
By default Skoolyte then does the routine steps for you: it fixes the class lists (roster), carries forward maximum marks, drafts a datesheet and saves marks as teachers type. These Automatic steps can be switched off in Settings → School Profile → Exams & Grading.
What is on the exam page ("Manage exam")?
- Progress: each class and subject sheet, with its status (Draft, Submitted, Checked, Reviewed), and the buttons to open, check, return or publish.
- Maximums & pass marks (admins): the total marks per paper. Set every open maximum to fills them all at once.
- Datesheet: date and time of each paper per class, with clash warnings. Use Copy these dates to other classes, then print by class or as a Notice board sheet.
- Seating & duties: seating plan per paper across your rooms and an invigilator duty roster. Rooms and seat counts come from Academics → Rooms. Print the room sheets and the duty roster.
- Pupils: the fixed list of students sitting the exam.
How do I print roll number slips?
On the exam list or exam page press Roll number slips, choose a class or all classes, and print. The slips use each student's class roll number, four to an A4 page. The signature and the note at the bottom are set in Settings → Documents → Exam Slips.
How do teachers enter marks?
Teachers open Examinations → My Marks Sheets to see the sheets they are responsible for, or Enter Marks on the exam. They pick the class and subject and type each student's marks. Use AB for absent (counts as zero) and EX for exempt (left out). Marks save while typing. A whole sheet can also be filled with Import Excel (use Download Template first). Marks can be entered offline and sync later.
Who is allowed to enter marks?
Set under Settings → School Profile → Exams & Grading → Who enters marks: subject teachers, class teachers or the office. Office staff find every sheet under My Marks Sheets. Administrators can always enter or correct any sheet.
How are marks checked before results go out?
Choose a Marks checking workflow in the Exams & Grading settings:
- Simple: teachers save marks and the admin publishes. Publishing locks the sheets.
- Standard: teachers Submit each sheet, the admin reviews it, then publishes.
- Strict: teachers submit, the class teacher checks, the admin reviews, then publishes.
A reviewer can Return to teacher with a note saying what needs correcting.
How are grades and pass/fail decided?
By Grading schemes in Settings → School Profile → Exams & Grading. Each scheme has grade bands ("from %"), the remark printed on the card, a pass mark per subject and overall, and how equal scores are ranked. One scheme is the school default, and each class can use its own (e.g. a separate one for pre-primary). Changes save immediately.
How do I see and print results?
On the exam press View Results, or open the class on the exam page. You get the merit list with totals, grade, pass/fail and position, including the position across all sections of a grade. Print the merit list, provisional cards or the Report cards PDF. To see one subject only, pick the subject.
How do I publish results?
When a class's sheets are complete (and reviewed, in Standard/Strict), use Publish all ready classes on the exam page, or publish class by class. If Publish results by themselves is on, ready classes are published automatically each night. After publishing, each correction needs a reason and creates a new revision. Earlier revisions stay in the archive.
